The AC Tournament games scheduled for tonight and tomorrow have been cancelled. Unfortunately, due to the weather's lack of cooperation and scheduling conflicts, we will not be able to make-up these games and are cancelling the rest of the tournament. We are looking at adding additional games to our schedule and will keep you updated as games are added.

While I was hopeful we could be in session today, the freezing drizzle that has formed over the last 30 minutes has led to damp roads. With falling temps, the potential for ice has increased. AC Schools will not be in session today. This will be AMI day #2.

Meet the newest addition to the AC Bulldogs team! We are excited to welcome our new PRESCHOOL teacher, Miss Grace Parrott! Miss Parrott has been working hard getting her classroom ready and we can't wait to meet our new Little Bulldogs! Open House is tonight at 6:00 pm for students that will be attending and have returned materials. Please come by and meet Miss Parrott this evening. The preschool will be located in the old Head Start trailer behind the school. Preschool parents may use the West door for pick up and drop off. We're so excited to be starting our preschool program and to have Miss Parrott on board! We do still have a couple of slots open if you are interested in enrolling.

Today the senior class worked on financial aid and scholarship applications while enjoying a taco bar from Half Baked Take and Bakery.

This event was funded by a mission-mini grant from the Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation. Additional support for the event was provided by RootEd Missouri and the Missouri Department of Higher Education.

Thank you to the parents and guardians who were able to attend in person and participate via the phone. Mrs. Deel is available to help with any additional questions that may arise as families continue to work through the financial aid process.

We are planning to be back in session tomorrow, January 10th. After driving the roads this evening, most are clear and dry. There are a few gravel roads that are patchy in some places, but bus drivers should have no problems navigating routes. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

Just a few updates to pass along: **Today, teachers are sending home learning packets for students in the event that we must use an AMI day for virtual learning. While we hope we do not have to use these packets at all, we felt it best to be prepared. This is not homework that needs to be turned in next week. Rather, they are the learning materials students will need in the event an AMI day is declared due to inclement weather. By sending these home now, students will already have the materials they need at home in the event of a snow day. Please keep this packet in a safe place at home so that it can be used in the event of an AMI day. Students will be required to complete all tasks assigned during an AMI day. Attendance will be based on the completion of AMI assignments. We will make an announcement when the AMI work is due. Additional information about AMI days may be found using the following link: https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3293/Appleton_City/3860345/AMI_Packets_2023.pdf **Elementary grade cards are being sent home today. Please sign and return the envelope to your child's teacher. MS/HS grade cards will be sent home next week. **New car rider tags are being sent home with students today. Please display these when picking up students using the car rider line. **Please make sure your current phone number is updated in the building offices. These phone numbers are what will be used to send out notifications and important updates. If you have any questions, please reach out to the offices.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-2025 school year is now open. ACHS seniors and their parents/guardians are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. The Priority Deadline for Missouri is February 1, 2024.

To help ACHS seniors and their parents/guardians complete the FAFSA, Ms. Deel will be hosting a FAFSA Frenzy at ACHS on Wednesday, January 10th from 10:45 am - 2 pm in the High School Gym. A taco bar from Half Baked Take and Bakery will be available to everyone in attendance. Parents/guardians should RSVP to the FAFSA event ASAP by emailing Ms. Deel at adeel@appletoncity.k12.mo.us

Link to the 2024/2025 FAFSA: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

----------------------------

FAFSA TIPS: It is recommended that families gather the following important documents and information for the senior and parents/guardians in case any data needs to be entered manually into the FAFSA: 2022 tax returns, child support payments, current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts, net worth of investments, business, and farms. This information should be kept private and not shared with ACHS employees or students.

Students and their parents/guardians must provide consent to have federal tax information transferred directly from the IRS into the FAFSA form. If consent and approval are not provided the student will not be able to complete the FAFSA and will not be eligible for federal aid. Even if parents/guardians are not helping to pay for educational expenses they are still required to answer questions on the FAFSA.
